Tomisato (富里市 Tomisato-shi) is a city located in northeastern Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
As of April 2012, the city has an estimated population of 50,183 and a population density of 931 persons per km2. The total area is 53.91 km2.
Geography
Tomisato is located in northern Chiba Prefecture, very close to Narita Airport.

History
Tomisato Village was founded on April 1, 1889 within Inba District, Chiba Prefecture. On April 1, 1985 it was elevated to town status, and later was elevated to city status on April 1, 2002.
Economy
Tomisato is a regional commercial center whose economy is primarily agricultural. The main crops are rice and watermelons. Traditionally, the area was known for horse ranching. The city is also a bedroom community for workers at Narita Airport.
Transportation
Railway
Tomisato is not currently served by railway. The Narita Railway Company’s Yachimata Line operated from 1914-1940. However, there are two stations within one kilometer of Tomisato's border. One is in Shisui, and two (two station lines sharing one site) are in Narita.
