Trevor Fetter is an American businessman who is President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of Tenet Healthcare.[1] He has appeared several times on the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare" list compiled by Modern Healthcare, ranking No. 13 in 2014.[2]
Early life, education
Fetter was born and raised in La Jolla, California.[1] He graduated from La Jolla High School in La Jolla, California. Fetter received his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University. At Stanford, he was a member of the Sigma Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He earned an M.B.A from Harvard Business School.
Career
Fetter began his career with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, where he focused on corporate finance and advisory services for the entertainment and health care industries. In 1988 he joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc., where he had a broad range of corporate and operating responsibilities that included serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.[3]
Trevor Fetter has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tenet Healthcare since September 2003. He joined Tenet in 1995 where he served as an Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and a member of the office of the President. His responsibilities included overseeing corporate functions which included information systems, finance, law, human resources, communications and administration.[3]
In February 2000, Fetter left Tenet to serve as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Broadlane, Inc. In November 2002, he returned to Tenet to serve as the company's President and was named the acting Chief Executive Officer in May 2003.[3] He has appeared several times on Modern Healthcare's “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare," and ranked No. 13 in 2014.[2]
Board involvement
Fetter served as the Chairman of the Federation of American Hospitals from March 2009 to March 2010 and is on the board of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. He is a member of the Business Roundtable.[3] On May 7, 2015, the Tenet board of directors appointed Trevor Fetter as chairman of the board.[4]
Personal life
Since leaving his hometown he has lived in Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York; Los Angeles, California; Santa Barbara, California; and Dallas, Texas. He married his wife Susan Foster in Episcopal Church with the same Bishop who performed his parents' marriage ceremony 26 years before his own marriage.[1]
