U.S. Route 322 Business is a 9-mile (14 km) business loop of U.S. 322 in Centre County, Pennsylvania. Its western terminus is at an interchange with I-99, U.S. 322, and U.S. 220 near State College; its eastern terminus is at U.S. 322 near Boalsburg.

U.S. Route 322 Business was signed at U.S. Route 322 until 1981, when the Mount Nittany Expressway, a freeway bypass of U.S. 322, was constructed north of State College.^[2][3]

U.S. Route 322 Business serves as the main east-west thoroughfare in State College, and the section in State College is named Atherton Street in honor of George W. Atherton, former president of the Pennsylvania State University.

Route description

U.S. Route 322 Business (designated SR 3014) begins at an interchange with I-99, U.S. 322, and U.S. 220 northwest of State College. It continues southeast where it passes through the Pennsylvania State University's University Park campus and passes under the Information Sciences and Technology building into central State College. The road then intersects PA 26 southbound at College Avenue and PA 26 northbound at Beaver Avenue. U.S. Route 322 Business proceeds eastward through Boalsburg. A concurrency with PA 45 begins at Shingletown Road and ends at Earlystown Road. U.S. Route 322 Business then continues eastward for a short distance and merges back into U.S. 322 east of Boalsburg.
