History
The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is a Canadian university in the province of New Brunswick. UNB is the oldest English language university in Canada and was the first public university in North America. It is a national comprehensive university, which supplies a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, diplomas, and certificates. Established in 1952, the Faculty of Business Administration is in UNB's largest campus in Fredericton, New Brunswick. It is UNB's flagship provider of management education and delivers programs leading to Bachelor of Business Administration, Honours Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, MBA in Sports and Recreation Management, MBA-LLB, and MBA-Engineering degrees. The Faculty of Business Administration supplies its Bachelor of Business Administration program in Trinidad. The MBA program is delivered in Kyiv, Ukraine.
UNB's foray into Singapore's education sector came with the assistance of two private course providers, Stansfield College and Singapore Institute of Commerce. Stansfield College provides the marketing and administrative networks.
The university began operations in 2008, providing undergraduate business degree courses to about 50 students and intended to expand its subject range to Logistics and Tourism Management once it was better established. Unlike many other foreign universities' offshore investments, the University of New Brunswick sought to maintain direct control over the quality of the courses and its own faculty from New Brunswick taught courses in Singapore. The university conducted a quality control review in early 2011 and concluded that there were systemic problems in the operations of the local partner.
Stansfield College, without consultation, merged the Singapore Institute of Commerce, which housed UNB Singapore, with its main operations in the spring of 2011. It now only lists business programs from the University of London and Victoria University (Australia) as available. UNB contacted all students and has sought to facilitate the graduation of eligible candidates. It has not renewed the relationship and course delivery ceased. UNB Singapore no longer functions as a distinct entity.[1]
