Valley Children's Hospital
Valley Children's Hospital is a 358 bed pediatric hospital located on the San Joaquin River just north of Fresno, California, USA. The hospital has a 45,000-square-mile (120,000 km2) service area covering most of California's central San Joaquin Valley. There are more than 500 doctors on the medical staff. It is a UCSF and now Stanford affiliated teaching hospital. The hospital was the first children's hospital west of the Rockies to receive Magnet Nursing Certification, the highest standard of nursing certification in America. In June 2015 it was announced that Valley Children’s Healthcare and Stanford University School of Medicine will partner to create a graduate medical education program based at Valley Children’s Hospital [1]
This pediatric hospital covers the following areas of Central California: San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings, Kern, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties.
In 2014 the hospital had 12,695 pediatric inpatient admissions and performed 12,265 pediatric surgeries.[2]
It is located at 9300 Valley Children's Place in Madera, California.[3]
In 2002 "Valley Children's Hospital" changed it official name to "Children's Hospital Central California", but the locals still called it Valley Children's Hospital. The hospital did not change its signage for several years after the official name change, upsetting many people when they did change. It was announced in December 2014 that the hospital was going to change its name back to "Valley Children's Hospital" in conjunction with the creation of the "Valley Children's Healthcare" network throughout the Central Valley.[4]
