The Hamersley Range rock monitor (Varanus hamersleyensis) is a dwarf member of the Varanidae family. It was recently separated from the Varanus pilbarensis on the basis of coloration and genetic studies. The species is restricted to the Hamersley Range of Western Australia.[1]
