Viduthalai (English:Freedom) is a 1954 Tamil Family - Crime Drama film was directed by K. Ramnoth and produced by G. Ramakrishnan. The film dialogue were written by Velavan and Screenplay were written by K. Ramnoth.[2][3] Music by Lakshman Raghunath assets to the film. The film Starring Chittoor V. Nagaiah, R. S. Manohar,[4] Krishna Kumari and Javar Seetharaman and Kumudhini lead with Mohan, K. P. Keasavan, and Vimala played portraying supporting role.[5][6] The film was adaptation of The First and the Last (play) by John Galsworthy under the title as Viduthalai. The film bombed at the Box - Office.[2][7]
Plot
The story around a lawyer son to become a judge (Chittoor V. Nagaiah) has a brother (R. S. Manohar) whose wife (T. V. Kumudhini) is forcibly taken away by a villain. The brother attacks him during which the villain dies. Anxious that the murder might affect his elevation, brother to escape. He foists the case on a poor man (Peer Mohammed), who is sentenced to death by the judge (Nott Annaji Rao). Mean while, feeling renorseful, the brother and his wife commit suicide, leaving a confessional note. The lawyer is shocked by the double suicide and the note. Once again scared that it might upset his impending judgeship he sets fire to letter. Cops arrive and arrest the lawyer. Under the impression that he had committed the double murder.

Reception
K. Ramnoth ventured into productions and toop up the play The First and the Last for the adaptation under the title Viduthalai. He stucks to the basic theme of the play in his Tamil Cinema, which was an off - beat story in those days.[2]

Music by Lakshman Raghunath and lyric were written by Subbu Arumugam, Velavan and Angumangalam Subbu.
