WPCF (AM 1290) and its FM translator W230CA/93.9 MHz is a radio station called 93.9 PLAY-FM broadcasting a 24/7 Dance format. Licensed to Panama City Beach, Florida, USA, the station serves the Panama City area. The station is owned by Evolution Broadcasting, LLC, whose sole managing member is Patrick Pfeffer.[1]

WPCF plays Dance Music each day from 5A.M.-6P.M., and then wide spectrum of EDM (electronic dance music) from 6P.M. until 5A.M. that reaches deep into the dance music genre, including House, Techno, Trance, Deep House, Breakbeats, Drum and Bass, Trap, and Trip-Hop. On the weekends the station also airs a number of syndicated shows including "Behind the Iron Curtain with Umek", "Aly & Fila's FSOE", "Global Dance Sessions with Bryan Cheetham", "Space Oddyssey with DJ Pulsar", "The Remix Top 30 with Hollywood Hamilton", and a number of weekly guest mixes.

WPCF has had a tremendous impact on the North Florida Music scene, and can be credited for bringing major live EDM shows to the area including Borgore, CashCash, Chainsmokers, Pegboard Nerds, Robbie Rivera, Borgeous, BT, Gabriel & Dresden, Crystal Method and many more....

History

The station was assigned the call letters WPCF on April 1, 1979. On June 6, 1994, the station changed its call sign to WDLP then on March 10, 2000 to the current WPCF.[2]

On January 6, 2014, WPCF dropped its Trop-Rock format for all Dance and Electronic music, becoming "93.9 PLAY-FM" under the operations of Patrick Pfeffer, owner of Club La Vela, a dance club in Panama City Beach that bills itself as "the largest nightclub in the USA".[3]
