Yanbara Dam (鷲ダム Yanbara-damu) is a hydroelectric dam on the Itoshiro River, in the Fukui prefecture of Japan. It is one mile upriver of the confluence of the Itoshiro River and the larger Kuzuryu River.[1]
History
In 1957, a hydroelectric power plant on the upstream portion of Kuzuryū was announced. The plan did not initially include the Yanbara Dam or using pumped-up water. This was later recommended by the Ministry of International Trade. The dam now uses pumped-up water to create a lower reservoir in order to generate power.
