Ángel Ladimir Nesbitt (born December 4, 1990) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Career
Nesbitt was signed by the Detroit Tigers as an international free agent in April 2009. He made his professional debut that year with the VSL Tigers of the Venezuelan Summer League, and played for them until 2011.[1] He spent 2012 with the Connecticut Tigers and 2013 with the West Michigan Whitecaps. In 2014 he pitched for the Lakeland Flying Tigers and Erie SeaWolves, combining for a 1.48 ERA and 20 saves in 48 games.[2] He was added to the Tigers 40-man roster on November 20, 2014.[3]
Nesbitt made the Tigers' Opening Day roster out of spring training in 2015.[4] He made his Major league debut on April 8, 2015.[5] On May 12, 2015, Nesbitt earned his first major league win against the Minnesota Twins. Entering a 1–1 tie in the 10th inning, he pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the inning before the Tigers won it in the bottom half.[6] On June 13, Nesbitt was optioned to Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens. In 24 appearances with the Tigers, Nesbitt compiled a 5.40 ERA. After allowing opponents to hit just .207 against him through May 18, he began to struggle with his command. In eight games since, opponents batted .400 off Nesbitt, who also let eight of 10 inherited runners score during that span.[7]
