The Americans finished in third place in the American League, 6½ games behind the Philadelphia Athletics. The Americans were led by Buck Freeman, who hit 11 home runs and drove in 121 runs. Their longest winning streak of the season came between July 19 and 28 when they defeated the Chicago White Stockings, St. Louis Browns, and Detroit Tigers until succumbing on the 29th to the Tigers.
