S.S. Lazio continued taking steps in direction towards the top of Serie A, by finishing fourth in the table. Once again Giuseppe Signori became top scorer of the entire Serie A, this time hitting 23 goals. Lazio also played in the UEFA Cup, where it failed to get past Boavista from Portugal in the second round, which was below expectations.
