The 2016–17 Montenegrin Second League Season is the eleventh season since the establishment of the Montenegrin Second League. The season runs from 14 August 2016 to May 2017.
Format of competition
A total of 12 teams participate in this edition of the Second League. New members are FK Mornar Bar who was relegated from 2015–16 Montenegrin First League, and winners of Montenegrin Third League playoffs - FK Čelik Nikšić and FK Otrant Ulcinj.
This is the last season of Second CFL with 12 participants. Namely, from the season 2017-18, there will be 10 clubs in the second-tier rank of Montenegro. So, at the end of the season 2016-17, three worst-placed teams on the table will directly be relegated to the Second Montenegrin League.
