Dracena is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population is 45,847 (2015 est.) in an area of 488 km².[1] The elevation is 421 m.
The municipality contains part of the 7,720 hectares (19,100 acres) Rio do Peixe State Park, created in 2002.[2]
History
Dracena was founded on December 8, 1945 on the initiative of Irio Spinardi, João Vandramini, Virgílio and Florêncio Fioravanti. It grew rapidly, and became an independent municipality in 1953, when it was separated from Gracianópolis.[3]
Climate
The climate is subtropical, The annual medium temperature is 23,4°C, the warmest month is January 27,8°C and the coolest month is July 17,3°C. The highest temperature ever registered was 43,1°C and the lowest, -4,1°C.
