Eve Tushnet
Eve Tushnet (born 1978) is a lesbian Catholic author and blogger.[1] In addition to publishing a book (see below), she has a blog and has written for The American Spectator, Commonweal, National Catholic Register, National Review, and The Washington Blade.[2][3] She converted to Catholicism in 1998, and is celibate due to the Catholic Church’s ban on sex outside heterosexual marriage.[4] She does not support same-sex marriage, having stated that marriage should be reserved for heterosexuals, whose “relationships can be either uniquely dangerous or uniquely fruitful. Thus it makes sense to have an institution dedicated to structuring and channeling them."[5]
Her father is Mark Tushnet and her mother is Elizabeth Alexander, who directs the National Prison Project of the American Civil Liberties Union.[5] Her sister Rebecca Tushnet is a professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center.[5]
