Famine in Yemen

The famine in Yemen is threatening 2 million people including 300,000 children with malnutrition. Out of which, 100,000 affected children are in Al Hudaydah Governorate with the city of Al Hudaydah worst affected area of the province.[1]

Background

The famine is the direct result of Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen. Yemen was already the most impoverished nation in Arabian Peninsula and Al Hudaydah, one of the poorest cities of Yemen but the war made the situation even worse. Fishing boats, the main livelihood of Al Hudaydah's residents were destroyed by Saudi airstrikes leaving them without any means to provide for their families.[1]
