Guy Burruss Gardner (March 18, 1920 – December 11, 1980) was the eighth head football coach for the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets located in Brownwood, Texas and he held that position for three seasons, from 1953 until 1955. His career coaching record at Howard Payne was 18 wins, 9 losses, and 2 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him tenth at Howard Payne in total wins and fifth at Howard Payne in winning percentage (.655).[2] He died after a long illness in 1980.
