H.A.L Airport Ward (Kannada: ಎಚ್ಎಎಲ್) is an administrative geopolitical region in the KR Puram assembly constituency in the Indian state of Karnataka. The region is located on the outskirts of East Bengaluru and covers 6.3 square kilometers. As of August 3, 2015, the ward had a population of 48,585.[1] It is included in the Mahadevpura zone, which is part of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.
Localities of H.A.L ward include Nellurupuram, Vimanapura, Jagadish Nagar, HAL Layout, Islampura, Annasandrapalya, Krishna nagar, Vinayak nagar, Ramesh nagar & HAL Airport.[2]
Amenities
As of November 2015 the H.A.L Ward had three government schools as well as eleven parks with a total area of 71,105 square meters. The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has over 26 bus stops in the ward and 150 bus routes. Despite its size, H.A.L Airport does not have a fire station, a playground, or a water reservoir.
Civic Administration
H.A.L Ward is located in the KR Puram Assembly geopolitical constituency (Vidhana Sabha), led by MLA B.A. Basavaraj. KR Puram in turn comes under Bangalore North (Lok Sabha constituency), led by MP D. V. Sadananda Gowda, who was Karnataka's former Chief Minister. During the general elections of 2014, D. V. Sadananda Gowda of BJP won with 52.91%, defeating C. Narayanaswamy of Indian National Congress party. MLA B.A. Basavaraj, contesting through INC, won the Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, 2013 by a margin of 24,001 votes, defeating N S Nandiesha Reddy of BJP.
The elected Corporator, N Manjunath of INC, won the BBMP 2015 elections with 9,232 votes and a victory margin of 3,086 votes, defeating K Sundar Raju of BJP.[3]
