Lego Ninjago: Nindroids is an Action-adventure game for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. It is a sequel to the 2011 Nintendo DS title Lego Battles: Ninjago, and both games in the series are developed by Hellbent Games and co-published by TT Games Publishing.[1]
Gameplay
The game contains 30 levels consisting of puzzles and battle sequences.[2]
Plot
The game follows the same plot as the third season of the animated television series Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.[1] In the game, the player assumes the role of a Spinjitsu Master[2] and is tasked with defending the New Ninjago City from the enemy Overlord's evil Nindroid army.[1]
The game contains new characters and villains,[2] as well as characters from the television show including Nya, Sensei Garmadon, Samurai X, and P.I.X.A.L.[1]
Development
The first game in the Ninjago series, Lego Battles: Ninjago, achieved worldwide sales totaling over two million units.[1] Due in part to the substantial sales of the first game,[1] a sequel titled Lego Ninjago: Nindroids was announced on 24 March 2014,[3] making it the second video game to be based on the Lego Ninjago line of play sets.[1] At the time of the game's announcement, the publisher did not specify any information regarding the official release date,[2] but it was declared by Nintendo Life that the game would see release in the Summer of 2014.[1] The game's announcement also comes after the success of the 2014 theatrical film The Lego Movie.[2] In February 2014, there also were reports of Warner Bros. debating whether to greenlight a Lego Ninjago film, or hold off on one until after the release of The Lego Movie 2.[2][4]
