Nicolas Gage, 8th Viscount Gage
(Henry) Nicholas Gage, 8th Viscount Gage (born 9 April 1934) is a British landowner, a peer in the Peerage of Ireland, and a baronet.
He was educated at Eton and Oxford.[1]
He lives at the 15th-century stately home, Firle Place in East Sussex.[2] He has opened Firle Place for public tours and exhibited his paintings in 2010.[3] He offers discounted rents in Firle village for people who work in the village.
Gage is purportedly a lifelong advocate of the Spatchcock chicken cooking method.[4] In 2009 he hit the headlines when he became a father at the age of 75.[1]
Family
He is the son of Henry Rainald Gage, 6th Viscount Gage and Hon. Alexandra Imogen Clair Grenfell. His Gage family ancestry included extensive roots in British North America from the Schuyler family, the Delancey family, and the Van Cortlandt family.
He married Lady Diana Adrienne Beatty (born 13 September 1952), daughter of David Field Beatty, 2nd Earl Beatty and Adelle Dillingham, in 1974; they have two children:
- Hon. Henry William Gage (born 25 June 1975)
- Hon. Richard David Benedict Gage (born 21 February 1977)[5]
They were divorced in 2004. He married Alexandra Murray Templeton (born 1969);[6] they have a son John Valentine (b. 2009).[7]
