Rajesh Jejurikar
Rajesh Jejurikar, President& Chief Executive – Farm Equipment & Two Wheelers, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., heads the tractor and the two-wheeler businesses.[1]
The tractor business with its two brands – Mahindra & Swaraj, is the leading player in the Indian tractor market. Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. is a global motorcycles and scooters company with brands like Mojo, Centuro and Gusto. Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. also owns 51% stake in Peugeot Motocycles, the oldest motorized two-wheeler manufacturer in the world.[2] Rajesh is also actively involved in invigorating the marketing and branding of products as a part of the Group’s ambition to be a leading global brand.
Rajesh holds a degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Mumbai . An alumnus of S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, he is also on the Governing Council of the Institute. In 2003, he was awarded the British Chevening Scholarship to study at the Manchester Business School, UK, and has attended the Wharton Advanced Management Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 2007.[3]
After having worked with Voltas (1986–90), FCB Ulka (1990–91) and Marico Ltd. (1991-2000), Rajesh joined the Automotive Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., as Vice President – Marketing and was responsible for successful launches of the Bolero and Scorpio.[4] His role was expanded in 2003, when he was appointed Executive Vice President – Sales & Marketing for the Automotive Sector.[5]
In 2005, Rajesh was given additional responsibility as the Managing Director of Mahindra Renault, where he oversaw the development and launch of the Logan in India.[6] In 2008, he became Chief of Operations of the Automotive Sector and when Automotive & Farm Equipment Sector (AFS) was formed in 2010, he was appointed Chief Executive for the Automotive Division.[7] and Member of the Group Executive Board. Under his aegis, XUV 500 was successfully launched.[8]
After a brief stint as President of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.,[9] he re-joined Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. as Chief Executive – Tractor & Farm Mechanization in 2013.[7] In April 2014, he was given additional responsibility of the Mahindra Two Wheeler Business.[4]
He serves on the Boards of Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. , Mahindra Gujarat Tractor Ltd., Mahindra First Choice Wheels Ltd., Mahindra USA, Peugeot Motocycles (France), Mahindra Racing SRL (Italy), Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery Co. Ltd.(Japan) and Trringo.com Ltd. [10]
Rajesh is the current President of the Tractor Manufacturers Association (TMA) [11] He is a visiting faculty at S. P. Jain Institute of Management. He has an honorary position on the Enactus India National Advisory Board.[12] He has been a member of the Advertising Awards Jury & Media Awards Jury of the Ad Club and the Management Committee of the Ad Club.[13] Rajesh was featured in the book titled ‘India’s Most Powerful Brand Builders’ released at Asia Brand Congress 2008 [14] and was a part of the cover story on ‘Young Leaders’ in Outlook Business in 2009.[15] Rajesh also secured a position in the Campaign India A List in 2009 and 2010, comprising 500 top professionals in advertising, media and marketing.
In September 2013, he was a part of a list of 50 Young Leaders of India, compiled by the British High Commission, India.
