Sexsmith is a town in northern Alberta, Canada. It is located on Highway 2, 20 kilometres (12 mi) north of the City of Grande Prairie.
Sexsmith is located in the Peace River Country region of Alberta, one of the most fertile growing areas in the province. The town was once known as the "grain capital of the British Empire"; in a 10-year period from 1939 till 1949 it shipped more grain than any other port in the empire.
Demographics
In the 2011 Census, the Town of Sexsmith had a population of 2,418 living in 807 of its 848 total dwellings, a 22.8% change from its 2006 adjusted population of 1,969. With a land area of 13.43 km2 (5.19 sq mi), it had a population density of 180.0/km2 (466.3/sq mi) in 2011.[2]
The population of the Town of Sexsmith according to its 2007 municipal census was 2,255.[4]
In 2006, Sexsmith had a population of 1,959 living in 672 dwellings, an 18.5% increase from 2001. The town has a land area of 3.43 km2 (1.32 sq mi) and a population density of 572.0/km2 (1,481/sq mi).[5]

Economy
Encana owns an oil and natural gas liquid processing plant with a total capacity of 115,000 barrels per day, from wells drilled into the Montney Formation.[8]
