Sommières-du-Clain is a commune in the Vienne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in western France.
Toponymy
The name of the village is Celtic in origin. Originally it was composed of the words "Soli", the name of a chief, and "maros" which means "big". The name was recorded as "Solmeria" en 1096.[1]
