Sonargaon (Bengali: সোনারগাঁও) is an Upazila of Narayanganj District[1] in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Geography

Sonargaon is located at 23°39′30″N 90°36′30″E / 23.6583°N 90.6083°E / 23.6583; 90.6083 . It has 44405 households and total area 171.66 km2.

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Sonargaon has a population of 261881. Males constitute 52.11% of the population, and females 47.89%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 118319. Sonargaon has an average literacy rate of 33.1% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[2]

Local food includes Gurer Zilapi, Murali, Binni Khoi, Shwandesh, etc.
