State and Local Governmental Operations Committee (Georgia Senate)
The Senate State and Local Governmental Operations Committee is a seven member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, and four members. The Committee operates under a Senate mandate to oversee all special taxes, and regulate city and county organization, powers, subdivisions, and the administration of special districts.[1]
Scope and jurisdiction
The Senate State and Local Governmental Operations Committee is responsible for legislation involving the collection of special taxes, city and county organization, their governmental powers, local subdivisions, and the administration of special districts. Most local legislation is assigned to this committee. This committee deals with the general applications of legislation applicable to counties and cities throughout the state.[1]
