Superstar Duets is a Filipino reality show television series broadcast by GMA Network. Hosted by the Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado, the show premiered on September 3, 2016 succeeding Lip Sync Battle Philippines and is considered a first in the Philippines as it combines comedy with a singing competition.[1]
Overview
Superstar Duets debuted on GMA Network, last September 3, 2016.
The game pits one Kapuso celebrity with International star impersonators. The one who will get a lowest score from the judges will be eliminated. Mike "Pekto" Nacua and Seeyah Later was the first who has been eliminated receiving 14 stars. After the first elimination the Kapuso celebrities will meet the second batch of International Stars.
Development
Host
It is presented by award-winning actress and the ultimate star Jennylyn Mercado and it serves as her comback project since she renew her contract last July 4, 2016. On November 26 and December 3 episode, Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid temporarily replaced Mercado as a host as the latter took a leave of absence in the show due to personal reasons.
Judges
The judges are composed of TV host and comedian, Allan K., traffic diva and the Philippines ballad princess, Aicelle Santos, and Asia's romantic balladeer, Christian Bautista.
