Tetsujin 28: The Movie is a 2005 Japanese live action film remake of the 1960s anime television series Tetsujin 28-go.
Plot
This is a live-action film adaptation of the original giant robot series Tetsujin 28. Although a TV anime was first broadcast in 1964 there were no theatrical films of Tetsujin 28, making this the first original film adaptation. In addition, a TV drama version was broadcast in 1960 as a live-action series.
The film is set in the modern era while still based on the original story, and emphasis is placed on the hero Shotaro Kaneda's coming-of-age subplot. Both Black Ox and Tetsujin 28 are CG in this film. Auditions, including a public offering were carried out at the beginning of the film's production in order to determine the roles of the main character Shotaro Kaneda, the heroine Tachibana Mami, Aoi Yu and others that Akira would select from among applicants of nearly 10,000 people each.
