Criticism and controversy

Alana Spencer

Before the start of the show, candidate Alana Spencer was accused of making racist comments against the travelling community back in 2010. It was reported she used comments on her social media such as "jobless pikey scum" and "chav pikeys", and even saying to one woman "control your children you pikey fat bitch". Spencer later apologised for her comments and claimed that the comments she made were "the words of a naive young girl from a number of years ago".[15][16]
