Mersin İdmanyurdu (also Mersin İdman Yurdu, Mersin İY, or MİY) Sports Club; located in Mersin, east Mediterranean coast of Turkey in 1985–86. Mersin İdmanyurdu S.K. (MİY) football team has participated in Turkish Second Football League in 1985-86 season.

1985–86 Second League participation

Mersin İdmanyurdu took place in Group C in Second League 1985–86 season. League played in three groups two with 18 teams and one with 17. Bottom four teams in each group relegated to Third League, whereas top teams promoted to First League at the end of the season.[1] MİY finished 12th with 8 wins and 21 goals. The team finished season with 16 draws 11 of which was 0-0.

1985–86 Turkish Cup participation

1985–86 Turkish Cup was played for the 24th season as Federasyon Kupası by 211 teams. First four elimination rounds were played in one-leg elimination system. However, if the result was a deuce in the first match, a second match was played at the home grounds of second team in the first leg. Fifth and sixth rounds and finals were played in two-legs elimination system. Mersin İdmanyurdu participated in 1985–86 Turkish Cup and was eliminated at round 1 by Konyaspor. Konyaspor was eliminated at round 2. Bursaspor won the Cup for the first time and was qualified for 1986–87 European Cup Winners' Cup.[15]
