Tolland State Forest is a 15,000-acre (6,100 ha) Massachusetts state forest located in the southern Berkshire Hills in the towns of Otis, Tolland, Blandford and Sandisfield.[1] The forest, which is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, is the site of Otis Reservoir, the largest body of water for recreational use in western Massachusetts.[1]
Activities and amenities
- Camping/day-use: The camping and day-use area sits on a peninsula of the 1,065-acre (431 ha) reservoir. There are more than 90 sites for tents and RVs, swimming and picnicking areas, showers, handicapped-accessible restrooms, and dump station.
- Fishing: A boat ramp provides access to the reservoir which is stocked in spring and fall with trout by the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife.[2]
- Trails: Forest trails are available for hiking, walking, mountain biking, off-road vehicles, and cross-country skiing.
- The forest also offers educational programs and restricted hunting.
