- A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck Tonga on January 2 at a depth of 0.0 km.[1]
- A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia on January 4 at a depth of 15.0 km.[2] A tsunami struck causing 400 deaths.[3][4]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica on January 14 at a depth of 0.0 km. At least 1,000 people were killed and major damage amounting to approximately $30 million (1907 rate) occurred in Kingston.[5]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck south of Umboi Island, Papua New Guinea on February 3 at a depth of 60.0 km.[6]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the Bonin Islands, Japan on February 6 at a depth of 400.0 km.[7]
