This is a list of earthquakes in 1926. Only magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquakes appear on the list. Lower magnitude events are included if they have caused death, injury or damage. Events which occurred in remote areas will be excluded from the list as they wouldn't have generated significant media interest. All dates are listed according to UTC time. A fairly active year, with Greece, Indonesia, and the Solomon Islands experiencing many large events. In spite of this the death toll was relatively low.

• An earthquake struck the Azores, Portugal (with a body wave magnitude of 5.3–5.9) on August 31 at a depth 1.6–4 kilometres (0.99–2.49 mi). Nine deaths and 200 injuries were reported, and approximately 4,138 homes were partially or totally destroyed.^[52][53]

• A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck south of Java, Indonesia on September 10 at a depth of 35.0 km.^[57]
• A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the east coast of Taiwan on September 12 at a depth of 15.0 km.^[58]
• A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck west of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands on September 16 at a depth of 15.0 km.^[59] Some homes were damaged.^[60]

• A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on October 3 at a depth of 25.0 km.^[61]
• A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck the far southwest Pacific Ocean on October 3 at a depth of 10.0 km.^[62]
• A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the Andreanof Islands, Alaska on October 13 at a depth of 45.0 km. This was part of a series of quakes hitting the area on this day.^[63]
• A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck the Andreanof Islands, Alaska on October 13 at a depth of 50.0 km. This was part of a series of quakes hitting the area on this day.^[64]
• A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Andreanof Islands, Alaska on October 13 at a depth of 40.0 km.^[65]
• A pair of earthquakes struck Monterey Bay, California on October 22. The first was a magnitude 6.1 at a depth of 35.0 km.^[66] The second was a magnitude 6.3 and was 10.0 km deep. The quakes occurred within an hour of each other.^[67]
• A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Kars Province, Turkey on October 22 at a depth of 7.0 km. The shallow depth perhaps contributed to a death toll of 360. Major damage was caused in the area.^[68]
• A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Papua (province), Indonesia on October 26 at a depth of 35.0 km.^[69]
• A magnitude 6.6 aftershock struck Papua (province), Indonesia on October 26 at a depth of 25.0 km.^[70]
• A magnitude 6.3 aftershock struck Papua (province), Indonesia on October 26 at a depth of 35.0 km.^[71]

• A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Leon Department, Nicaragua on November 5 at a depth of 15.0 km.^[72] Heavy damage was caused.^[73]
• A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Yunnan Province, China on November 22 at an unknown depth. At least 101 people died and some homes were destroyed.^[74]
• A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Leyte, Philippines on November 27 at a depth of 15.0 km. ^[75]

• A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Atacama Region, Chile on December 9 at a depth of 33.0 km.^[76]
• An earthquake struck central Java, Indonesia on December 13. The magnitude and depth were unknown. At least 51 people were hurt and major damage was caused.^[77]
• A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck south of Sumba, Indonesia on December 14 at a depth of 35.0 km.^[78]
• A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Fier County, Albania on December 17 at an unknown depth. Many homes were destroyed.^[79]
• A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea on December 25 at a depth of 35.0 km.^[80]
• A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Makassar Strait, Indonesia on December 25 at a depth of 35.0 km.^[81]
