This is a list of earthquakes in 1925. Only magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquakes will appear on the list. Lower magnitude events are also included if they caused death, injury or damage. Events which occurred in remote areas will be excluded from the list as they wouldn't have generated significant media interest. All dates are listed according to UTC time. It was a fairly busy year with several deadly events occurring. Most notably was an earthquake in China in March which left at least 5,000 dead. Other deadly events occurred in Iran, Japan, the Philippines and California. No earthquake exceeded a magnitude of 7.3; in the vast majority of years there have been at least one or two events much more powerful than that.

- A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Ardahan Province, Turkey on January 9 at an unknown depth. Two-hundred people died in the event.[2]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck the Kuril Islands, Russia on January 18 at a depth of 35.0 km.[3]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Kuril Islands, Russia on January 28 at a depth of 30.0 km.[4]

- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck southern Quebec, Canada on March 1 at a depth of 35.0 km. This was one of the largest earthquakes ever to strike eastern Canada.[13]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck south of Sumba, Indonesia on March 15 at a depth of 50.0 km.[14]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck south of Sumba, Indonesia on March 15 at a depth of 50.0 km. This came two hours after the earlier event and could be considered a doublet earthquake.[15]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Yunnan Province, China on March 16 at a depth of 10.0 km.[16] Five-thousand people were killed, at least 1,000 more were injured and countless homes were destroyed in the area.[17]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Vanuatu on March 22 at a depth of 35.0 km.[18]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck south of Mindanao, Philippines on March 26 at a depth of 180.0 km.[19]
- A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Darien Province, Panama on March 29 at a depth of 60.0 km.[20]

- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck east of Mindanao, Philippines on April 7 at a depth of 25.0 km.[21]
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck the southern Indian Ocean on April 11 at a depth of 10.0 km.[22]

- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the Andaman Islands, India on June 28 at a depth of 60.0 km.[45]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Santa Barbara Channel, California on June 29 at a depth of 10.0 km.[46] Thirteen deaths resulted from the event as well as damage costs of over $8 million (1925 rate).[47]

- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea on July 4 at a depth of 15.0 km.[48]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck under Patras, Greece on July 6 at a depth of 120.0 km.[49]
- A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck off the coast of Jalisco, Mexico on July 7 at a depth of 20.0 km.[50]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck east of Antigua and Barbuda on July 7 at a depth of 60.0 km.[51] This event came just under three hours before the slightly larger event to follow. This is an example of a doublet earthquake.

- A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Isparta Province, Turkey on August 7 at an unknown depth. Three people were killed and 2,043 homes were destroyed.[53]
- A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Michoacan, Mexico on August 7 at a depth of 75.0 km.[54] This event came within an hour of the Turkey earthquake.
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Commander Islands, Russia on August 19 at a depth of 15.0 km.[55]
September
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck north of Antigua and Barbuda on September 29 at a depth of 35.0 km.[56]
October
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Managua Department, Nicaragua on October 5 at a depth of 35.0 km.[57] Heavy damage was reported in the region.[58]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge on October 13 at a depth of 10.0 km.[59]
- A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Yunnan Province, China on October 14 at an unknown depth. Twelve deaths and at least 101 injuries were reported. Five-hundred homes were destroyed.[60]
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the Talaud Islands, Indonesia on October 18 at a depth of 220.0 km.[61]
- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck off the southwest coast of Sumatra, Indonesia on October 22 at a depth of 35.0 km.[62]
- A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck the eastern end of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands on October 30 at a depth of 15.0 km.[63]

- A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck west of West Papua (province), Indonesia on November 10 at a depth of 15.0 km.[64]
- A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck north of Samar, Philippines on November 13 at a depth of 20.0 km.[65] A tsunami accompanied the event leaving at least 51 dead with at least 101 injuries resulting. Many homes were destroyed in the area.[66] [67]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck far off the west coast of Mexico on November 16 at a depth of 15.0 km.[68] Damage was caused by tsunami waves.[69]
- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck off the coast of central Peru on November 17 at a depth of 10.0 km.[70]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Vanuatu on November 28 at a depth of 25.0 km.[71]
December
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck southern Xinjiang Province, China on December 7 at a depth of 35.0 km.[72]
- A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran on December 14 at an unknown depth. Five-hundred deaths were reported. This is quite a high toll for what was a moderate magnitude event.[73]
- A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Bushehr Province, Iran on December 18 at an unknown depth. Two people died and some damage was caused.[74]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan on December 18 at a depth of 230.0 km.[75]
- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck Luang Namtha Province, Laos on December 22 at a depth of 15.0 km. Such a strong event is rare for this area.[76]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck northern Mindanao, Philippines on December 26 at a depth of 20.0 km.[77]
- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck the Molucca Sea, Indonesia on December 27 at a depth of 35.0 km.[78]
